Another PWRC win for Symtech Racing and Hayden Paddon!

The Belgian Symtech Racing team, based in Grobbendonk, together with their crew of Hayden Paddon and John Kennard, have claimed another win in the 2011 Production Car World Rally Championship. With almost an eight-minute lead and an overall classification of ninth, Paddon and his Symtech Racing Subaru Impreza STR11 triumphed on the Argentinian PWRC round in style.

For Hayden Paddon, this should have been the most difficult rally of the year compared to the other PWRC events in 2011, as he was starting the Rally Argentina for the first time. The team's strategy was clear : no risks and no effort spared to claim some precious points for the championship. The plan was to approach the first day calmly without paying too much attention to what the other drivers were doing. It was soon clear that a podium finish was possible, when after just a few stages Paddon was already third. But the route of the Rally

Aiming for points in Argentina

After having dominated the show and secured an incredible PWRC win in Portugal, Hayden Paddon and the Belgian crew Symtech Racing will reconvene in Argentina next weekend, ready to tackle their next rally challenge. Rally Argentina, which is the next round of the 2011 Production World Rally Championship, will be an important new event for Hayden Paddon, who will have to focus on driving a good rally and collecting as many points as possible.

Wim De Boeck (Symtech Racing): "Many members of our team have already participated in Rally Argentina, including our co-driver John Kennard. For Hayden, by contrast, this will be his first time in Carlos Paz: an area and a route that he is not familiar with yet. We are confident in our capacities and in those of both Hayden and our Subaru Impreza STR11. However, we do not want to be overly ambitious and aim too high: collecting as many points as possible will be our first target. As the championship comprises only six rounds, for us the most important thing is to be competitive and finish each rally. Now we are ready for this next round and we can't wait to get started."

Dominant victory for Belgian team Symtech Racing in Portugal!

Belgian team Symtech Racing, which is based in Grobbendonk, made a big impression on its debut in the 2011 Production car World Rally Championship. After two days of testing last week in Spain, it was clear that Hayden Paddon felt comfortable in the Subaru Impreza STR11. Symtech Racing has developed and built its own Subaru Impreza STR11, and Paddon was able to see the difference straight away compared to some other cars that he had driven. He tested the car for the final time on Monday before the rally started, in order to be completely ready for the action. From the opening stages on Friday, Paddon demonstrated his authority: he ended the day with a 33-second lead. His tactic on the second day was clear: the New Zealander aimed to push over the first three stages in order to have a minute's margin or so to play with in the afternoon. In the end it turned out to be easier than expected as nobody had an answer to the Paddon-Symtech duo, whose cushion at the end of the second day was up to 6m35s.

Paddon, selected as one of the world's most promising young talents to form part of the FIA-backed Pirelli Star Driver scheme last year, will drive the Symtech-prepared Subaru Impreza STR11: a car designed and built entirely in Belgium. Symtech has operated consistently at the cutting edge of Group N technology, being one of the very first teams to run the latest-specification Impreza.
